The short version
- You don’t need an account to use Veci, and we don’t use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers.
- If you let the map use your location, it stays on your device. We never receive it or store it.
- Your orders go straight to the business on WhatsApp. We don’t receive them.
- We don’t sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
- You can ask us what we have about you, or ask us to delete it, at [email protected].
This summary helps you find your way. The full text below is what counts.
1.Who we are and what this covers
Veci puts local businesses on one map and builds each business its own digital menu, with orders sent to the business on WhatsApp.
This Privacy Policy explains how Veci (“we,” “us” or “our”) handles personal information through our website at yourveci.com, the Veci map, the menus we build and host for businesses, and our messages with you (together, the “Services”). It’s part of our Terms of Service.
2.Information we collect
Information you give us.
- Messages. When you write to us on WhatsApp or by email, we receive your name or profile name, phone number or email address, and what you write. If you use the Veci Founders form, it prepares a WhatsApp message with your business name, your name and the plan you chose; nothing is sent to us until you send that message yourself.
- Business information. If your business joins Veci, we collect the owner’s or manager’s name and contact details, and the business’s name, address, hours, catalog, prices, photos and logo.
- Payment information. When a business pays us, we keep a record of the payment, such as the amount, date and plan. Card or bank details are handled by the payment provider you use, under its own privacy policy.
Information that stays on your device. Some features save information in your browser’s storage, on your device only. We can’t see it, and you can delete it at any time by clearing your browser’s data for our sites.
- Location. If you allow it, the map uses your device’s location to show businesses near you and how far they are. It’s used only in your browser while the page is open: it isn’t sent to us and isn’t saved.
- Preferences and lists. Your language and theme, your favorite businesses on the map, and your recent orders on a menu so you can repeat them.
Information collected automatically. Like any website, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. It’s used to deliver the pages and protect them from attacks. We don’t use cookies, analytics tools, advertising pixels or similar tracking technologies.
Information from other sources. To prepare a business’s profile, we may use information the business has already made public, such as its listing on online maps, with the business’s permission.
3.How we use information
We use personal information to:
- provide the Services: build and publish menus, show businesses on the map and keep their information up to date;
- answer your messages and give you support;
- manage memberships, payments, refunds and the Veci Founders offer;
- send you messages about the Services, such as notices about your plan or about changes to our terms;
- keep the Services secure and prevent fraud and abuse; and
- comply with the law and protect our rights and those of others.
We don’t use personal information for targeted advertising, we don’t sell it, and we don’t use it to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. If we ever want to use it for a new purpose that isn’t compatible with these, we’ll ask for your consent first.
5.Your choices
- Location. The map only asks for your location if you allow it, and it works without it. You can turn location access off at any time in your browser or device settings.
- Information on your device. You can delete your preferences, favorites and recent orders by clearing your browser’s data for our sites.
- Your messages. You can ask us to delete our conversations with you.
- Your business information. You can ask us to correct your business’s information at any time. If your business cancels its membership, we remove it from the map and stop publishing its menu.
- Messages from us. We only send you messages related to the Services. If you don’t want to receive them, tell us.
Our website doesn’t respond to “Do Not Track” signals, but it doesn’t track you either.
6.How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy. Business information is kept while the membership is active and deleted or anonymized afterwards, except for what we must keep for legal, tax or accounting reasons, or to resolve disputes. We delete conversations that are no longer needed.
7.Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, such as encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limiting who has access to it. No system on the internet is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee the security of your information. If a breach affects you, we’ll tell you as the law requires.
8.Children
The Services aren’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. Memberships are only for people who are 18 or older. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and we’ll delete it.
9.Your state privacy rights
Depending on where you live, such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon or other states with privacy laws, you may have the right to:
- know what categories of personal information we collect, where it comes from, why we use it and who we share it with;
- get a copy of your personal information;
- correct personal information that’s inaccurate;
- delete your personal information;
- opt out of the sale of your personal information, its sharing for targeted advertising and certain profiling; and
- appeal if we deny your request.
We honor these requests from anyone, wherever you live, as far as the law allows.
What we collect, in the categories the law uses. In the last 12 months we collected: identifiers (name, phone number, email address); commercial information (plans and payments of businesses); internet activity (technical information processed by our hosting provider); and professional information (the businesses’ information). We collected them from the sources and used them for the purposes described above, and we disclosed them only to the service providers and other parties described in “How information is shared.”
No sale and no sharing. We don’t sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising, and we haven’t done so in the last 12 months. We don’t collect sensitive personal information: your location stays on your device. We don’t knowingly collect information from people under 16. We treat Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a request to opt out, although there’s nothing to opt out of.
How to make a request. Write to [email protected] or send us a WhatsApp message. We may need to confirm your identity before answering, for example by asking you to write from the same phone number or email you used with us. You can ask someone to make the request for you; in that case, we may ask for proof that you authorized it. You won’t be treated differently for exercising these rights.
California “Shine the Light.” We don’t share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.
10.Where information is processed
We’re based in the United States. Some of our service providers may process information in other countries, where privacy laws may be different from those where you live.
11.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top, and if the change is important we’ll tell you with a notice on our website or a direct message. The updated policy applies from the date it’s published.
12.Contact us
